Pinakotheke

Pinakotheke Cultural began its activities in 1979 as an organization dedicated to planning and producing exhibitions and books. Since then, it has presented numerous exhibitions and specific publications to the wider audiences.

In 1987, Multiarte was opened in Fortaleza, which has been consolidated as Pinakotheke Cultural's branch in the Northeast and, over more than 35 years of existence, has been dedicated to presenting exhibitions that seek to increase knowledge about Brazilian art from the 19th and 20th centuries.

In 1994, Pinakotheke opened its own headquarters, with the conclusion of the environmental reconstruction of the site and the restoration of the buildings located on Rua São Clemente, in Botafogo. The new headquarters features the proper infrastructure to set up exhibitions with exquisite information and communication resources; a technical reserve of artworks, which follows international standards of excellence; a library and databases on art history in Brazil.

In 2002, Pinakotheke was established in São Paulo. Since then, the venue has hosted important exhibitions featuring exponents of modern and contemporary Brazilian art. The technical quality of Pinakotheke's cultural projects, books and exhibitions has earned the institution several awards.
