Founded in 1984 in Curitiba, Simões de Assis is dedicated to modern and contemporary art, with a focus on Latin American production. The gallery specializes in preserving and disseminating the legacy of artists such as Carmelo Arden Quin and Cícero Dias, in partnership with families and foundations. In 2011, it opened SIM Galeria, which focuses on contemporary art.
In 2018, the galleries expanded to São Paulo and, in 2020, united their programs. Simões de Assis, now run by two generations of the family, proposes a review of past artistic production based on contemporary art, promoting a transgenerational dialogue between artists.
In 2022, the gallery opened a space in Balneário Camboriú, expanding its reach in the Brazilian art market. Simões de Assis invests in partnerships and exchanges with international galleries and institutions, in addition to participating in fairs and publishing bilingual exhibition catalogues, reaffirming its commitment to preserving memory and building new possibilities for the future.
