Almeida & Dale was founded in 1998 with the aim of promoting the work of important Brazilian artists. Over the last twenty-two years, the gallery has played a decisive role in revisiting the production of key artists through guest-curated retrospective exhibitions accompanied by publications featuring newly commissioned academic essays. Recent solo shows include Willys de Castro, Di Cavalcanti, Flávio de Carvalho, Mestre Didi, Alberto da Veiga Guignard, Alfredo Volpi, Jandira Waters, which have since attracted renewed interest from critics in Brazil and abroad. Willys de Castro, Di Cavalcanti, Flávio de Carvalho, Mestre Didi, Alberto da Veiga Guignard, Alfredo Volpi, Jandira Waters, que desde então têm renovado interesse da crítica no Brasil e no exterior.
Alongside these in-depth solo exhibitions, another pillar of Almeida & Dale's program is the intergenerational collective exhibitions that present historical and contemporary works, encouraging research into neglected sources, the mapping of possible artistic lineages and the broader contextualization of modern and contemporary art in Brazil.
The third pillar of Almeida e Dale's program focuses on preserving and disseminating the legacies of historic artists. In 2018, the gallery supported the creation of an institute dedicated to Rubem Valentim (1922-1991), one of the main names in Afro-Brazilian modernism. The Instituto Rubem Valentim is a non-profit organization responsible for cataloguing and organizing the artist's work and archive. In 2020, Almeida e Dale started to represent the estate of the famous concrete artist Luiz Sacilotto (1924-2003). A galeria pretende continuar ampliando seu papel na promoção e divulgação da arte brasileira por meio de exposições e publicações que fomentem pesquisas e bolsas de estudo.
