Founded in 1974, Luisa Strina helped promote the careers of a generation of new conceptual artists from Brazil, including Antonio Dias, Cildo Meireles, Tunga and Waltercio Caldas. In 1992, she was the first from Latin America to take part in the Art Basel art fair.
Luisa Strina began working with emerging Brazilian artists such as Alexandre da Cunha, Fernanda Gomes and Marepe. Throughout the 2000s, the group expanded to include Latin American names––Carlos Garaicoa, Jorge Macchi, Juan Araujo and Pedro Reyes––and established women artists such as Laura Lima, Leonor Antunes and Renata Lucas. In the last decade, the gallery has consolidated its trajectory with the representation of influential names including Alfredo Jaar and Anna Maria Maiolino, as well as younger artists such as Bruno Baptistelli and Panmela Castro.
