Instituto de Visión is a gallery focused on conceptual practices that is run by women and localized. Its mission is to investigate artistic discourses that have been left out of the official history of art. Through the Visionários program, it recovers important collections from the Latin American art scene of the mid-twentieth century and investigates the region’s most enigmatic praxis.
Through a double program, they also represent some of the most relevant practices from Mexico, Chile, North America and Venezuela, among others. Directed by three women, the gallery pays special attention to women’s voices, queer theory, environmental activism, the condition of displacement and other critical positions that challenge the established order.
Using the international art scene as a platform, it is committed to giving visibility to and expanding the work of artists who reveal critical realities and raise important questions for understanding contemporary issues.
